Father of ChatGPT: I would feel ashamed if OpenAI were not the first company led by AI
On November 6th, according to the report from Caijunews (edited by Bian Chun), Sam Altman, the CEO of OpenAI, is waiting for the day when AI will replace him. He expressed that he would feel embarrassed if OpenAI did not become the first company led
In November 2022, OpenAI released the globally popular chatbot ChatGPT, becoming one of the world's most influential artificial intelligence companies, leading to Altman earning the title of 'Father of ChatGPT'.
"I would feel ashamed if OpenAI weren't the first big company run by an AI chief executive," said Altman on a podcast on Wednesday.
Altman often reflects on the question of what conditions would allow an AI CEO to run OpenAI significantly better than him.
Although there is still a lot of work to be done before that day, Altman said he has been thinking about how to speed up the process. He believes that in less than 10 years, AI will be able to take charge of a major department within OpenAI.
Altman said he has arranged his next job when that day comes.
"I have a farm where I occasionally live and I really love it," said Altman in an interview last month. He also stated that he spent more time on the farm before ChatGPT gained popularity. In the past, he often "drove tractors and harvested crops."
In the short term, artificial intelligence will destroy many jobs. But in the long run, like every other technological revolution, I believe we will find new things to do, he said.
